EveryDollar comes out of Ramsey Solutions, so the budgeting categories and the overall workflow assume you’re already following, or at least curious about, Dave Ramsey’s baby steps and debt snowball method. You build a budget for the month, assign every dollar of income to a category before you spend any of it, and track extra payments toward whichever debt you’re targeting first. For someone already using Ramsey’s books or show, the app feels like a natural extension rather than a separate tool to learn.
The free tier works entirely through manual transaction entry, which keeps it usable for budgeters who don’t want to link a bank account at all. EveryDollar Premium, priced around $17.99 a month or at a lower effective rate if paid annually, adds automatic bank syncing so transactions import instead of getting typed in by hand. It’s a good fit for people working through debt payoff who want their budgeting app to speak the same language as the method they’re following, less so for someone who has no interest in the broader Ramsey approach.
