Spendient is a manual-entry expense and income tracker designed to work offline and across multiple currencies. You record your spending and income directly, and the app organizes it into a single balance across all your accounts and currencies. Because it's manual-first, there's no bank connection to set up, no login credentials to hand over, and no sync lag when you want to log a quick expense. Everything stays on your device until you choose to sync across your other devices.
The app is available on iOS and Android. You download it free and can use the free version indefinitely. The free plan includes up to 50 categories, two manual wallets plus one Monobank card connection (Monobank is a Ukrainian bank), basic analytics by category, all the main dashboard charts showing balance, spending, and income, the ability to pin transactions to your dashboard, and home-screen widgets. A Pro subscription unlocks budgets and goals, additional analytics (trends and net income), search, hashtags, recurring transactions, unlimited wallets, and support for all your Monobank cards if you have multiple. The Pro plan shows more than 50 categories and lets you pin budgets and goals to your dashboard.
Spendient's strongest feature is multi-currency tracking. You create separate wallet accounts in different currencies, and each one is tracked independently. Then you see a single total balance that's the sum across all of them, converted to your primary currency. If you have cash in euros, a credit card in dollars, and a PayPal account in pounds, you add them all, and Spendient shows you one number: your total wealth across all three. This is essential for people who work internationally, travel frequently, or manage income in multiple countries. The app handles the conversion automatically when you view totals, so you don't have to do the math yourself.
Every transaction gets a category, a note, and optional hashtags. When you record an expense for coffee, you pick "Dining," add a note like "morning coffee at home," and tag it with hashtags like #morning or #personal if you want. The app remembers category assignments, so if you buy from a merchant once and assign it to a category, next time you buy from that same merchant, Spendient suggests the same category automatically. Search finds the specific expense you're looking for in seconds by merchant name, note, category, or hashtag.
Budget management in Spendient works around monthly limits per category. You set a budget for each category and watch your real-time progress as you add transactions. The spending chart shows whether you're on track, approaching your limit, or already over. Budgets reset on a date you choose, not the first of the month. This matters if you're paid on a different date or if your business operates on a different fiscal cycle. Recurring transactions (rent, subscriptions, insurance) can be set up once, and then Spendient reminds you and automatically logs them on the right date, so you never miss a payment and never have to type the same expense twice.
Savings goals let you set a target, for a vacation, a car down payment, or anything else, and track progress toward it. Each time you add money to a goal account, the app shows how close you are. Goals can be pinned to your home screen widget, so they're visible at a glance when you unlock your phone. This turns the app into a motivation tool for savers.
Spendient includes detailed analytics that update as you log transactions. You see spending and income by category, trends over time, and your net income (income minus expenses). A balance chart shows exactly when you went into the red or climbed back above zero. You can look at any time period from the last 30 days to your entire history, and view all wallets together or focus on one. At the end of each month, Spendient Wrapped recaps your last month: how much you spent, what changed, and what stood out. It's a passive summary of the month you just lived.
The app handles shared accounts. If you're managing a budget with a partner or splitting expenses with roommates, you can create a shared account, invite the other people, and track shared expenses together. Everyone sees the same transactions and categories. This works within the free tier and is useful for people who need a transparent, shared spending record.
Bank syncing is optional and only available for Monobank, a Ukrainian bank. The free plan includes one Monobank card connection, and the Pro plan includes all of your Monobank cards. If you have a Monobank account, transactions sync automatically and appear in your Spendient wallet. Non-Monobank users or anyone outside Ukraine will use manual entry exclusively. The app emphasizes that manual entry is its primary mode and that data privacy is built around it: because you enter everything yourself, your data stays on your device and in the app's cloud backup, and Spendient never needs your bank credentials. For international users, this is a strength: you're not locked into a single country's banking infrastructure.
Pricing is transparent. The free plan is free, with no time limit and no catch. The Pro plan costs a specific amount per month (the exact price is not published on the main site; instead, Spendient refers you to the App Store and Google Play, where prices vary by region). You can try Pro free for up to 7 days, but the free trial is tied to the annual subscription. If you want to take the 7-day trial, you're subscribing to the annual plan; if you cancel during the trial, nothing is charged. After the trial ends or if you don't subscribe, your account continues to work on the free plan with nothing deleted.
Spendient publishes app store reviews from real users. One review called it "a simple and modern app." Another praised "the elegant, modern design," adding that the app feels "smooth and fluid." User feedback emphasizes the clean interface and the convenience of how features are laid out. The app has built an audience of people tracking every dollar, from side-hustlers managing multiple income streams to couples splitting expenses to travelers moving across countries.
The app is built around your device. It runs on iOS and Android, and your data syncs across all of your devices so you can add an expense on your phone and see it on your tablet. Nothing requires a desktop, and nothing requires an internet connection if you don't want it: you can log expenses offline and sync them later.
Spendient suits manual-entry budgeters who prefer privacy and control, people managing money in multiple currencies, and anyone who wants a simple visual interface without unnecessary features. The free plan is genuinely useful, including budgets, analytics, and recurring transaction tracking. Upgrade to Pro only if you need hashtags, search, or unlimited wallet accounts. The app costs nothing to download and start using, with a 7-day Pro trial available through the annual plan if you want to see what the paid features offer.
