Fudget

Tap a star to rate

Fudget strips budgeting down to the format people used before there were apps for it, a running list of money in and money out, with a balance that updates as you add each line. There’s no bank connection, no Plaid integration, and no automatic import of any kind, every entry is typed in by hand. That’s a deliberate choice rather than a missing feature, the app is aimed at people who want full control over what counts as a transaction and don’t want a categorization engine guessing for them.

The basic version is free on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, and covers as many budget lists as you want to create. Fudget Plus, at roughly $4.99 a month or $19.99 a year, adds sync so the same lists show up across your phone and computer, plus the ability to export everything to a spreadsheet. It fits people who tried an automated app and found themselves fighting bad categorization more than they were saving money, manual entry is slower, but it’s also exact.
