Snowball Analytics is an investment and dividend tracker built for retail investors who want to consolidate holdings from global brokers, understand dividend income, and run performance analytics without paying upfront. Founded in 2021 by two investors frustrated with spreadsheets, the platform now tracks 200,000+ portfolios holding $15 billion in total assets. It connects to 1,000+ brokers from the US, Europe, UK, and Asia, operates across 70+ exchanges, and handles 25+ currencies including USD, CAD, and SAR. Like most portfolio trackers, it does not execute trades or hold your money; it is read-only aggregation and analytics.

You sign up for a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. The trial grants full access to all platform features. After 14 days, you roll to a free permanent tier or upgrade to a paid plan. The free plan lets you track 1 portfolio with 10 holdings, access 1 watchlist, see dividend calendar and basic filters, and import broker reports or link your brokerage once. The Starter plan, priced at $55.99 per year (shown with a current 30% discount until September 24), adds unlimited holdings, a second portfolio, 2 watchlists, and unlocks the rebalancing tool and weekly summary emails. The Investor plan, at $104.99 per year (discounted), opens 10 portfolios, unlimited holdings, full benchmarking, and top-50 dividend stocks with all advanced filters. The Expert plan, at $174.99 per year (discounted), adds unlimited portfolios, an MCP feature, and 20 watchlists. The pricing page states: "All prices are in USD."

The trial is genuine: after 14 days, if you do not upgrade, you land on the free plan, which enforces its 10-holding limit. The site says: "If you exceed limits of the free plan, you will be asked to upgrade."

Connection to brokers happens via Yodlee, a trusted cloud account aggregator that auto-syncs data, or via broker report import. The site says: "You can also import your brokers' report (if its supported) or create a custom CSV file with your trades history." It explicitly supports stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, precious metals, currency trading (including full transaction accounting), and custom assets (deposits, real estate). You can manually enter holdings if your broker is not on the 1,000+ list or if you prefer not to link accounts.

The platform organizes holdings into "categories" (folders you create, like "Growth Stocks", "Dividend Portfolio", "Bonds"), each with a target allocation. The dashboard shows portfolio value, invested amount (total cost of current holdings), total profit (dividends, realized and unrealized gains, fees, taxes), internal rate of return (IRR, net annual return across cashflows), and yield (annual dividend income as a percentage of current value). Charts break down diversification by sector, country, region, and asset class. The site also shows composition of funds you hold (if a fund holds Apple and Amazon, it displays them), so you can spot double-counting or concentration risk. When a dividend is paid or a stock splits, the platform records it automatically via your broker link, or you can manually enter it, so your cost basis and holdings always reflect reality.

Dividend tracking is a centerpiece. The platform automatically records dividend payments, splits, and other corporate actions, then calculates yield and yield-on-cost for each holding and the portfolio as a whole. It forecasts future dividend payments based on historical patterns, and shows how dividend income has grown or shrunk year-over-year. A separate dividend calendar lists upcoming ex-dividend dates, payout dates, and amounts. The dividend rating tool assesses the financial condition of companies in your portfolio; the site describes it as a way to "create a safer source of passive income."

Performance analytics include IRR (your annualized net return), multi-period reporting (comparing returns over 1-year, 3-year, 5-year windows), and benchmarking against indices like the S&P 500, NASDAQ, FTSE, or TSX. Risk metrics include the Sharpe ratio (balancing return against volatility). You can view 30+ years of historical data on stocks and funds, and backtest portfolio ideas against past markets to see how they would have performed.

A rebalancing tool monitors whether your portfolio matches your target allocations, and on the Starter and above tiers, it suggests purchase orders to rebalance. The Free plan offers purchase-only rebalancing (it does not suggest sales), while paid plans offer full rebalancing advice. Backtesting tools let you test portfolio ideas against 30+ years of historical market data to see how your allocation would have performed in past market environments. The Investor and Expert plans unlock the full backtesting suite; the Free tier offers a limited version. You can export all holdings and transactions to CSV for further analysis or tax filing, and the API lets developers build custom integrations.

The company is a French SAS (Société par Actions Simplifiée) registered as Snowball Analytics SAS in Lyon with R.C.S. registration 914 331 640. The site does not publish an executive team, but notes the mission: "We believe that long-term investing is the best way to build wealth. Our mission is to empower each long-term retail investor with everything he needs to see the full picture and stay on top of their investments." In 2022, they welcomed their first paying customers. By 2023, the team grew alongside the user base. In 2024, they launched a mobile app (available on iOS and Android, rated 4.8 stars with 4,600 reviews on iOS and 2,500 on Android).

The platform is powered by EODHD and SnapTrade for market data. The site hosts a comparison table between Sharesight, Dividend.Watch, and Snowball Analytics. The site's support documentation covers portfolio setup, dividend tracking, backtesting, and integrations. A community hub lets you view other investors' public portfolios to see real-world allocation examples.

The limitations are few. You cannot trade through Snowball Analytics; it is read-only only. The free tier caps you at 10 holdings and one portfolio, which is small for a diversified investor but workable for a simple three-fund portfolio plus a few individual stocks. The 30% discount shown on the pricing page is explicitly time-limited ("until September 24"), so annual cost may be higher after that date. Some brokers may not be on the 1,000+ list, requiring manual entry.

The platform publishes a community hub where investors can view public portfolios from other users, learn from real-world allocation examples, and discuss investment strategies. A knowledge base covers portfolio setup, tax optimization, dividend tracking workflows, and integrations with different brokers. Support is available via email for basic issues and is included in premium plans.

Snowball Analytics suits investors with multi-broker portfolios, especially those tracking dividends as a retirement income stream or a wealth-building strategy. The 14-day no-card trial is a genuine way to test the tool before committing without entering payment details or deleting the trial account later. The annual pricing (starting at $55.99 per year for Starter, currently discounted 30% until September 24) is significantly cheaper than monthly subscriptions to other trackers, and the feature set rivals much pricier platforms. For an investor managing holdings across five brokers or tracking dividend growth across 30 dividend stocks, the platform offers unification and analytics that individual broker dashboards cannot provide. For a trader with single-broker access, the value is lower.
