Built for the Uneven Income Problem
Finviro is an AI-powered personal finance app built specifically for people whose income is unpredictable: freelancers, independent contractors, real estate agents, and anyone earning on commission or variable pay. Made by Finviro Inc., the app runs on web browsers and as native apps for iOS and Android, with real-time synchronization across all platforms. The core job is solving what most budgeting apps ignore - the unique cash flow problems freelancers face when they do not know when paychecks will land or how much they will be.
The app centers on treating money as a timeline rather than a ledger. You can see not just what you have, but what is pending (income waiting to clear from payment processors), what is cleared (money actually in your account), and what is safe to spend (cleared funds minus upcoming obligations). This distinction is the entire draw for freelancers who cycle through income that lands unevenly across Upwork, Fiverr, Toptal, and direct clients, then vanishes again to payment processors, taxes, and subscription fees.
Connecting Accounts and Money Coming In
Finviro connects to over 12,000 financial institutions across the US and Canada through Plaid, its integration partner. You can add checking accounts, savings accounts, investment portfolios, and credit cards from virtually any bank you use. The site states you can connect unlimited accounts from different institutions into one unified dashboard.
Account information updates in real-time or within 24 hours depending on your financial institution's update frequency. Most major US banks sync within minutes, so your dashboard stays current. If a connection breaks, you can disconnect and reconnect the account from the Settings page, or contact support at support@finviro.app. The app also supports direct bank statement import: you can upload statements or receipts, and the AI extracts important details and turns them into usable transaction records.
The app is purpose-built for irregular-income users, so it tracks multiple income sources explicitly. You can log Upwork income, Fiverr earnings, Toptal contracts, or direct client payments, and the app categorizes them separately so you can see which income streams are pending clearance and which have already hit your account. The freelancer income tracker also lets you generate professional invoices from payment records in the mobile app.
How the Budgeting Workflow Unfolds
Finviro approaches budgeting through what it calls a weekly cash-flow view and a cash-flow calendar. Rather than forcing all your spending into monthly categories (the standard envelope approach), the app shows you a calendar of when income is expected and when bills are due. You can see upcoming and recurring payments in advance, mark one-off expenses, and track which transactions are still pending versus which have cleared. This calendar layout is the differentiator for freelancers: you can play with what-if scenarios before you spend, and predict your future balance at any point in time rather than just at month-end.
The app includes smart budget creation where you set category-based budgets and monitor spending in real time, seeing how much you have left to spend throughout the month. Recurring transactions (subscriptions, bills, regular income) are organized automatically. For shared finances, Finviro lets you add friends, split shared bills, track money you have lent or borrowed, and manage repayments with built-in reminders.
The AI finance assistant is a chat interface. You can ask it questions about your finances, log transactions by speaking instead of typing (the app transcribes voice entries), and get AI-generated analysis of your spending patterns and cash flow trends. The app automatically categorizes transactions and lets you search or filter your financial history whenever you need it.
What It Costs and What Remains Unclear
Finviro is in active development. The pricing page says: "Join early access to be notified about launch pricing and availability." The home page displays a pricing table with a Free tier (labeled as best for getting started) and a Premium tier, but the actual per-month cost is not shown on the pricing page itself. Launch pricing has not been announced. You can sign up for early access to be notified when pricing is final and the app is ready for general use. The site does not mention whether a trial period will be offered once pricing goes live. If you are serious about trying Finviro, contact the team at support@finviro.app to ask when full availability is expected.
The Free tier, when launched, is positioned for getting started with AI-assisted personal finance, and the Premium tier is described as for active users who need more AI capacity and faster insight cadence. What features will be exclusive to Premium, what limits exist on Free, and what the per-month price will be are not yet public. Until launch, you cannot judge whether the free tier is actually useful or a trial in disguise.
Who Finviro Fits and Who It Does Not
Finviro is ideal for any freelancer or contractor tired of guessing whether they can afford something. If you have juggled income from multiple platforms, forgotten when invoices are supposed to land, or overdrafted because you could not see the gap between cleared and pending money, this app speaks your language. The AI coaching and what-if cash flow scenarios are built for exactly that problem. The app's core insight is that traditional budgeting breaks for people whose paychecks do not land on the same day every month, which is why the team built Finviro specifically for irregular income rather than retrofitting a standard budget app to handle it.
The voice transaction entry and automatic categorization lower the barrier to logging expenses on the go. You do not need to sit at a computer to update your financial picture. The AI-powered expense categorization also means you do not have to manually tag every purchase, saving time on data entry. For freelancers who move between multiple gig platforms in a single day, the automated multi-account connection through Plaid saves the mental load of juggling separate logins and screenshots.
The single major limitation is the moving-target pricing. The app is honest about being in active development, so there is no shipping launch date and no final cost structure. If you need budgeting software today and need to know the cost today, Finviro is not your answer yet. You would be joining an early-access program with no firm timeline for when it becomes production-ready. For people patient enough to wait and willing to shape the product by giving feedback, it could be worth the wait. The early-access model also means you might gain influence over what features ship and what pricing structure the company ultimately chooses, which is valuable if you have specific needs the market-wide apps do not serve.
