SoFi Checking and Savings has no account fees and no minimum balance, and its Roundups feature works the way most round-up tools do: every purchase on a linked debit card rounds up to the nearest dollar, and the difference transfers automatically. Where SoFi differs is what happens after that transfer. Instead of one generic savings balance, you can split deposits across multiple Vaults, sub-accounts inside the same SoFi Savings account that you label and track separately, a wedding fund and a car repair fund kept visibly apart instead of blended together.
Beyond round-ups, SoFi offers an automatic savings feature that moves a chosen amount into your Vaults on payday, before the rest of the paycheck gets a chance to disappear into spending. The savings balance earns an APY well above what most traditional banks pay, and there’s no cost to open or maintain the account. It suits people already saving toward two or three distinct goals at once who want to see each one’s progress separately rather than guessing how much of one lump sum belongs to which goal.
