Vertex42 has been around since 2003, well before “spreadsheet template” was something you’d expect to download for free rather than build from scratch, and budgeting is just one of several categories of templates it offers alongside calendars, planners, and business forms. The budget section alone covers a handful of different approaches: a straightforward monthly budget, a zero-based budget worksheet that forces every dollar into a category, and a family budget planner aimed at tracking more than one earner’s income against shared expenses.
Every template is a download, available as either an Excel workbook or a Google Sheets file, and none of them connect to a bank account. You type your transactions and balances in by hand, and the templates handle the totals, percentages, and a few built-in charts in return. It fits someone who’s comfortable with formulas already in place but doesn’t want to build the structure of a budget spreadsheet from a blank sheet.
